Forest Bathing practices bring us into a deeper state of sensitivity, so we can feel the gentle massage of the light breeze, enjoy the subtle scents of trees, and possibly even become aware of electric subtleties caressing our senses that we are bathed in when we enter the forest.
Are you organizing a trip to Oregon, USA? Here you’ll discover a curated list of top-rated businesses focused on nature healing that you can connect with.
Hello, we are Daniel and Sailee! We both grew up living very close to nature, and we fell in love in the Coast Redwoods forest on a work trip. Daniel first met what we now call the ‘forest consciousness’ as a young child. Later he heard the largest individual tree on Earth, a Giant Sequoia, tell him “You are going to help save us.” Later, while working as a field biologist tracking Norther Spotted Owls, he had a similar encounter with a light being that was manifesting as the first owl he was left alone with. Sailee was introduced to yoga as a teenager. She later led the proliferation of yoga in the rural coastal community of Coos Bay, Oregon by opening Mossy Lotus Yoga Studio. Together, Daniel and Sailee discovered that doing yoga in nature accelerated the effects of being in nature and we decided to share this process with the world. It was years later that we discovered that this process was being called ‘Forest Bathing’ or Shinrin-Yoku. This discovery accelerated our mission to save old-growth forests by introducing their power to heal to overstressed humans. Teaching people to feel the forest, to connect with nature, and to develop a relationship with the land that has supported life on Earth for millennia is now our life’s mission!
Where To Go
Ocean Beaches Oregon State Parks offer forested oceanside cliffs, beaches, and extensive well-maintained trails. These sites are magnificent for soaking in the vibrant air that flows from the mighty Pacific Ocean.
Old-Growth Forests Nestled in the Coast Range Mountains east of Coos Bay lie our most cherished hidden gems. Among the most majestic of locations, these secluded forests represent untouched nature at its most splendid. Home to 500-year-old trees, towering ferns, and expansive moss beds, these forests are a testament to the restorative power of nature.
Why We Do it
Our biological makeup has co-evolved with the chemicals found in nature. The more time we spend separate from nature, the more anxiety, depression, and stress take hold. Nature is the cure to our modern-day problems!
S
“Humans have a biological need to connect with nature. Because we evolved with it, we have a need to connect with it.”
